Romitaggio di S. Alberto
A small foothill church was built in the 15th century. Over the centuries, it was home to one or more hermits, anchorites who lived off the charity of the faithful who would go there to invoke protection and also to pray for rain in periods of drought.
At the end of the 18th century, one of these hermits, Giuseppe Pilla, secured everlasting fame by engraving his tombstone with these words, 'I despise fame, do not seek my name'. The last hermit passed away in 1963 and it was a woman, named Neta. Her task was to assign names to the unborn and pray to Saint Albert invoking the longed-for rain for the farmers of our villages.
